About Me
Hey, my name's Daniel. I'm the person behind SunsparkStudios.
Free Time
I spend most of my time doing pottery, coding, and gardening. When I'm out and about you can find me at the farmers market and the local ecstatic dance.
I like to cook and play games of all kinds. Hosting board game night and making pizza for my friends is one of my favorite things! ๐ฒ๐
Unique Challenges
A big part of my life is that I deal with significant chronic health limitations that affect every part of my day. Careful planning is how I make it work. Now with the advent of modern tools, my ability to think things through is more valuable than ever, and I use those tools to increase my capacity and accomplish my goals at a scale that just wasn't physically possible for me in the past.
My struggles have taught me to prepare well and be deliberate, because I can't afford to waste effort on bad plans, and brute-forcing my way through things is rarely an option.
Putting Down Roots
Building community and being a villager is really important to me. I do my best to be active in the local scenes despite being mostly housebound. I've crafted my space into a support system that allows me to be as active and well rested as possible. I love my home and over the years it's become a bit of an urban homestead.
I have chickens and bees and a bunch of garden beds. One of my goals is to be able to grow at least a third of the food I eat with plenty left over for giving away, and some years I've gotten pretty close!
My Art
I make most of my pottery on site and have a focus on functional art that I would enjoy having in my home. I love making teapots in particular because it's not just one thing, it's all the little parts and details coming together to make it work. I like the science of a good pour, and I love a good plan.
The Plan
Right now my primary focus is setting up this business and fundraising through smaller apps and pottery sales to build enough capital to launch my art discovery app. It's a service I really believe in and am excited about, but the server fees are going to be a factor. I hope to build up enough funds through smaller apps and pottery sales so that I can keep it running while it grows into something more sustainable.
